Standard TF-IV.  Assessment and Evaluation.  Educational technology facilitators apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies.

A. Apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a variety of assessment techniques.

On the school wiki I created, I created a page that models how to use the Smart Response system (as part of their SmartBoard technology) to assess student learning.  The Smart Response system allows teachers to create individualized assessments that students answer by using hand-held electronic response units.  Results are immediately recorded and accessible.  Reports are available for student and class assessment results.  Teachers can improve student learning by evaluating results from these reports.

I've also demonstrated how to use the Scantron/Achievement Series application to print test forms, scan results, and access student results.  These results can be used for both formative and summative assessments in order to adjust instruction to meet student needs.  The following artifact is an example of a test item report from one of our classes at Central Elementary.

*Anne Arundel Country Public Schools uses the Scantron/Achievement Series program to keep records of student performance on Topic Tests and Benchmark assessemnts.  I serve as the Location Controller for our school, which involves maintaining teacher and student accounts for our school.  We are also responsible for training teachers.

B. Use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.

In order to help guide teachers to use technology resources in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting results using the Scantron/Achievement Series program, I have conducted in-services and shared an in-depth PowerPoint that was provided by the Location Controller office.  By explaining how to use test results and reports, teachers can improve instruction and maximize student learning.  When using the tools available using the Achievement Series program, teachers can change their instruction accordingly to meet student needs.

 C. Apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.

My Critical Literacy web page helps teachers improve students’ ability to use technology resources.  Students can use this web page to analyze the validity of information on the Internet.  This activity will require students to use web evaluation forms with a partner to evaluate various web sites.  Students will communicate/share their findings with the class.

To encourage use of our Lightspeed Audio Systems in our school, I have shared results of research that evaluates the use of this technology in a learning environment.  See findings on my staff wiki.
